Terminal Lance #278 “That Guy”

0

Not to be confused with “That One Guy,” this is “That Guy.”

While That Guy doesn’t necessarily have to be about FOB dogs, there’s always some douchemaster that wants to shoot the animals aboard the FOB. You know them, we all do. They’re the fucking asshole that grew up with an abusive father or something so they feel the need to shoot animals that are otherwise harmless so they can ruin shit for everyone.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m well-aware that many of the dogs in the middle east are feral and shouldn’t be kept aboard the FOB. That’s not what I’m talking about. When I was in Iraq in 2007, we had this random orange cat wander into the camp and sleep around for a few days in different beds. I am partial to orange cats (every cat I’ve ever had has been orange), so naturally it stayed with me and my people for a few days. It wandered off, but within 2 days we come to find out that That Guy smashed it’s head with a brick. The reason? Who gives a fuck, it was a small cat, and you’re an asshole.

I see That Guy returning as a recurring character, ruining good shit for all those around him.

So naturally I’m going to switch gears and talk about the Kickstarter. First off, I just want to say thank you to everyone that has supported the campaign. For those of you unaware, my goal was $20,000. We blew past that goal in 13 hours, and over the last 4 days have raised over $65,000. There’s still 26 days left in the campaign. I still haven’t revealed the $100,000 stretch goal, but I’m expecting to shortly as we get closer. I also want to mention that I’m adding a new 11×17 print for the $100 pledge range, since we ran out of rewards for that tier.

So, I’m sure many of you are going, “Why should I give you more money when you went way passed your goal already?”

Good question! Pledging to the campaign allows you to get ahold of all the awesome rewards we’re offering right now. This is the only time you’ll be able to get special Terminal Lance challenge coins and stickers for the immediate future. As well, pledging to the campaign gives you first access to reading Revenge of the Dependapotamus. Additionally, it’s your way of pre-ordering your copy of The White Donkey! While I will be seeking a publisher once the book is finished (and I already have interested parties), the money being raised will be printing limited edition first-run versions of the book only available here.

EVERYONE THAT PLEDGES MORE THAN $5 WILL RECEIVE A STICKER! There’s tons of other rewards too, no one has purchased the “ball-tap” yet.

Also, we still have one more stretch goal to hit!

Really though, I was absolutely overwhelmed with the support Terminal Lance has received over the weekend. I had been feeling pretty down about getting turned down by Pixar and other studios (not necessarily their fault, it’s a rough job market), it was really great to see fans of the comic support this project and put faith into me as an artist. I want to stress something that I think is important here:

When I look at this money, no matter how much it is, I don’t see “all the things I can buy.” I see “all the things I can create. This money is allowing me creative freedom and the ability to remain an independent artist in America. I don’t know how far this Kickstarter campaign is going to go, but the money will be put to good use, I can promise you that.
