I do not think molecule is correct on the seps pay or at least I hope he is not. To my understanding its going to target Major's and Staff Sergeants as well as Marines in targeted MOS's. On the drawdown brief on the 7th slide it talks about force shaping authorities available. If you take a look at this slide in the 4th column it says the payments for the seps pay program and it says 'up to 40% base pay x YOS' and then it shows examples - SSgt w/14 YOS=$118,059 -Sgt w/10 YOS=$72,229. In the remarks column it says Targeted MOS's and grades only. I just dont understand why they would give an example of what a Sgt would make if the program was not available to them.
I'll say this though, the original drawdown brief from feb/march shows a sgt's seps pay ... at the last conference I attended 2 weeks ago, manpower plans & policy gave us a cleaner updated presentation about the "targeted rank/mos" requirement. Before I go on, I want you all to know, I don't make this stuff up nor do I make the policies up. This is just like the VEERP, where one minute it was only to 6 months then all of a sudden it goes up to a year; its manpower, it changes every day/week/month ... Now ... what P&P has (or at least they claim to have) changed is the sgt's getting the voluntary seps pay, reason why they do this is because they have cut down their service limits from 13 to 10, which means many will be getting slashed and getting involuntary seps pay. They are targeting E6s/O4s because those two ranks make up the bigger part of the force and really have no incentive to get out since they can retire. Will they keep it like that? I don't know ... nothing is for certain until that MarAdmin comes out. I am not always right, but I do try to give out the best and most up to date information as I can ... so, abc, if I am wrong when this policy comes out, apologies ahead of time ... puto ...
