i see... so what im understanding is that this would equalize the playing field where uneven Pros/Cons are concerned. this would be great.
however for people like me, whos MOS has been closed for over a year it doesnt help much. hard to compete with an 1882 for CPL

One quick way to help at least some of the closed MOS's is quit allowing NCO's to lat move into an MOS that spends at least 6 months closed for that rank.  All three jobs in that field easily spend 9 months closed every year. I've seen ComCam classes at the schoolhouse with one pipeline Marine and 5 NCO's. I've even seen a shop where a lance had more time in service than one of his lat moving sergeants, and definitely had more experience in the job, all while having a higher cutting score than when said sergeant picked up corporal.

That will help cutting scores at some level.

Dude, the math doesn't add up:

-If cutting scores are locked, there are already enough or too many Marines of that rank in that MOS in the Marine Corps.
-If there are already enough, or too many of that rank, HQMC will not approve a latmove to that MOS.

I agree with the rest.  I had a box kicker Cpl lat move to the grunts as a 41.  Privates were running circles around this clown on the mortar.  I had to shitcan the kid.  I had a MP Sergeant lat move (same platoon, 81s) and that cat turned out great.

Then again, I don't think I've ever seen 0311, 0331, 0341, or 0352 locked out.  0351's... Fuck, entirely different story.

besides, I got screwed twice on rifle score so I still have my crappy score from boot camp two and a half years ago until this quarter at which point it'll be zerod out

hakuna matata, though, since I'd like to actually do my job for a while once I transfer before I get put in charge of people straight out of the schoolhouse that know the job better than I do

I remember back around late '06 when the cutting scores for MUX (0622 and 0623) dropped to ridiculous levels. The lowest I remember that score going was an 1123.

Not everyone can me admin supply and pick up with a 1400. My MOS is always closed out except recently they are promoting like 4 Lances that have a service stripe. Oh, and Quantico can suck my imaginary ball sack! Preferably the left one...

Im admin supply and while I certainly didnt pick up with one of the higher scores, when I did the score was a 1564 (not hard but still higher than the MOSs that do have scores in the 1300-1400 range, can we please pick on someone else? kthxbuy

2621 is sitting at 1599, not too bad, I'm unfortunately zeroed out at the moment for not having a rifle score, but once I get my MCIs mailed in and it done, I shouldn't have that much more to get promoted. CFT will definitely help once I run that again and get it up a bit more, only got a 288 on the last one. Well, at least I have some chance of getting promoted.

you cant pick up cpl MERITORIOUSLY while in student status. pipeline students can pick up cpl in their intended MOS while in their primary schooling.

There are lance coolies here who have been in Pensacola for more than two years for medical problems - they're stuck in limbo until they can get out to the Fleet. It might be different for linguists, but I know for a fact that most of my friends in MATC were contract PFCs and have high 1600 cutting scores, and they still aren't getting promoted until they get out to the Fleet.

It might be that I'm only in C-school. I haven't even gotten to the Fleet yet.

weird.....totally didn't even realize id posted that  i guess it was a few days in between

sry dood. not looking for pity. i don't mind. i don't really have a desire to pick up before I have some experience. I genuinely don't think I should be put in charge of people if I've been completely out of my mos since school and have zero experience leading anything more than two PFCs in taking out the trash at the end of drill weekends
